Questions, properly answered.

Transparent answers about what the studio can and cannot do, privacy, export, layout assumptions and advertising.

Can this arrange true curved sewing patterns?

No. It places the rectangular bounding dimensions you enter. It cannot nest actual curved contours, calculate darts or inspect a PDF sewing pattern. Use its output as a purchasing and cutting estimate, and verify with your paper patterns.

How does on-fold cutting work?

Activate the folded-fabric option. The planner treats usable width as half the original width and forces pieces marked “align with fold” to start exactly on the fold edge. Quantities represent cut operations, not a guarantee about the number of final fabric layers.

Does “grain-aware” guarantee the correct fabric grainline?

No. You control allowed 90° rotation and can globally lock rotation for directional/nap fabric. Grainline arrows are orientation cues only; they are not a substitute for checking the actual grain arrow printed on your pattern.

What about plaid, stripes and matching motifs?

The studio does not automatically match printed motifs. Use the print-repeat calculator as an initial allowance and verify where each motif must align. For high-value patterned fabric, plan and mark manually.

How is fabric efficiency calculated?

The ratio is the sum of outer rectangular piece areas divided by usable width multiplied by the final used length. It is a bounding-box utilization metric. It is not true fabric yield when pieces are curved or cut on multiple layers.

Is the selected plan mathematically optimal?

No. Three deterministic rectangular packing heuristics are compared. The shortest result found is shown, but another arrangement may use less material. Manual adjustment can sometimes improve it.

Do seam allowances change the calculated piece dimensions?

Yes. The global allowance is added to each of the four edges, so a piece of width W and height H becomes (W + 2s) × (H + 2s). Do not enter dimensions already including allowances unless you set s to zero.

Can I save more than one project?

Yes, up to 20 named projects in the current browser. Each new save with the same name overwrites its previous saved version. Export a JSON file to preserve or transfer your measurements.

Does the site upload my project?

No account or project-upload endpoint exists in this release. Calculations, JSON import and image exports are performed locally. Your hosting provider may still keep ordinary access logs.

How do I get an actual PDF?

Choose “Print / Save PDF”, then select your browser’s Save as PDF destination. This produces a diagram through the print dialog; it is not a vector cutting-machine format.

Can I enter inches instead of centimetres?

Yes. Switch the unit selector. Existing dimensions are converted numerically, including seam allowance and pattern sizes. The estimated price unit changes between per metre and per yard.

Are the sample patterns suitable for sewing clothes?

No. The samples are illustrative cutting rectangles and deliberately omit shaping, grading, seam notches and fit calculations. Replace every measurement with your own checked pattern.

Can I use it on mobile?

Yes. The site and studio are responsive. For complex layouts, a laptop or desktop mouse offers easier manual positioning and a larger view.

Why are there blank advertising spaces?

Those are labeled positions reserved for potential future monetization. No AdSense publisher ID or ad script is included. A live operator must complete ad approval and privacy/consent requirements first.
